Located in the horseshoe bay of Cala Egos, in the southeast of Mallorca, the renovation of this property involved painting and decorating, furnishing, accessorising, updating bathrooms and woodwork. The magnificent sea view from the terrace inspired the nautical colour scheme in the main living areas. Surrounded by walls painted brilliant white, the sailcloth-cream sofas boast scattered cushions in navy, red and white and yachting motifs, the artwork, the dark blue blinds and chairs, the large striped ottoman in the centre and the stunning horizontal stripe coloured glass vases transmit a marine feel from every corner of this area. For the bedrooms, Justine has chosen vibrant but calming colours. The master bedroom is spacious and luminous, featuring greys, off-white, turquoise, blue and green. Again, the proximity to the sea is evident in the décor, but in a more organic way, where the tones are reminiscent of the sea itself. Another bedroom is an explosion of coral, bright pink and tangerine, with artwork, curtains, headboard and pillows glowing against white walls and light tiled flooring. The remaining bedrooms feature blue and white, and coral pink against cream, respectively, all offering sumptuously summery options. The bathroom was renovated with white tiles and blue trimming, travertine marble counter and a whitewashed carved mirror. The outside space of this home is very special, with a covered terrace, landscaped planters overflowing with indigenous Mediterranean shrubs and a bright white pool terrace, all overlooking the bay just below. For the covered area with built-in seating surround, long cushions were custom-made to ensure comfort and style. Justine chose white all-weather rattan furniture for the outdoor dining area and seating space, with blue upholstery and multicoloured striped cushions and accessories. Down by the lime white pool terrace, the striped red, white and blue sunbeds by the contoured swimming pool spell summer perfection under the sun. So much so, that the owner wished to carry some of the spirit of her beautiful holiday villa back to the UK, so she engaged Justine to work her magic on her Surrey home.
I met Justine at my newly acquired, empty and slightly dated property in 2013. After spending a few hours with Justine, she agreed to work with what couldn’t be changed at the house and modernise, lighten and furnish what was an otherwise blank canvas. All her suggestions were used (i.e. removing an old log burner) which I am pleased to say worked well.
During the period the work was being carried out, I was sent images of the designs she and her team had put together who were willing to change a plan slightly if required. Justine was also happy to change small items/accessories if I wished when I eventually saw the finished project.
I was absolutely delighted with the result which provided me and my family with a fresh, light and quality furnished holiday home, ready to walk into with interesting detail and lovely finishing touches. Thank you very much to you all!
