Justine Knox was contacted by the developer to help with the furnishing and staging of this Moderne purpose-built two storey residence.
The brief was to create a holiday home for grown-up families that spoke of luxury elegance throughout.
The ground floor living area was long and narrow, stretching along the frontal section of the home; it needed to be carefully furnished to define each space with its own purpose, while preserving the open plan design. Justine Knox persuaded the builder to add a partition wall between the entrance lobby and the dining space in order to add intimacy to the dining area and provide focal point opposite the front door. Lighting elements were added to covings, low level staircase treads and lamps overhanging the chrome and oak dining table and the kitchen island. A further touch of glamour was added by the use of antique mirror as the kitchen back-splash.
Justine also added a further lounge area upstairs, featuring comfortable furniture and soft tones and fabrics, as well as artwork reflecting the relaxing mint and sand palette with fuchsia accents. By contrast, the upholstered bed base and headboard in purple velvet of the master bedroom, setting off the iconic zig-zag Missoni throw and colourful corner armchair, is a bold and colourful reminder that neutrals and colours, if tastefully combined, work wonders.
Outside, the anthracite grey and neutrals of the building’s structural elements have been replicated in the terrace furniture, which is easy to mix and match to suit every social occasion.
