This project involved the renovation and styling of a holiday home nestled up in the hills that rise up around the stunning horseshoe bay of the Port de Sóller, in the North of Mallorca. The clients are a family with young children who wanted a fresh and bright summer home that was practical and child-friendly but also elegant and stylish. Knox Design began by updating the bathrooms and the kitchen. The latter features white units with sand coloured polished marble worktops and a panel of blue and white ceramic tiles on the stove splashback. Bathrooms are simple, elegant and modern, with matte marble wall panels and floors.
The décor throughout the house is a tribute to its Mediterranean location, with a navy, turquoise, teal and white colour scheme and marine-themed accessories (starfish, fish, coral motifs) and light wood furniture. Bannisters, doors and window frames have been lacquered in white, rendering the interior even more luminous. In one of the bedrooms, turquoise and white with driftwood lamps; in another, the navy batik pillows and colourful coral patterned curtains add colourful touches to the serene white. The children’s bedroom features a multi-coloured striped pattern on the bespoke blinds and the bedding. On the two plush cream sofas in the living area is an array of colourful pillows, plus a deep turquoise rug on the floor.
The terraces are decked out to make the most of the stunning views on the valley of oranges and the sea beyond. This includes a solid wood table for family meals, blue and white striped fabric on sunbeds surrounding the swimming pool and a comfortable rattan corner sofa upholstered in deep blue. All in all, this house has been transformed into a happy and colourful family second residence, ideal for young children, that is easy to clean and very spacious.

Client Testimonial:

Having bought a holiday home in Mallorca we were faced with the prospect of having to undertake refurbishments and also furnish the house in its entirety, quite a daunting prospect given that we would have to organise the majority of this work from back home in England.

We found Knox design via their website and having spoken to several other companies who offered similar refurbishment and design services in Mallorca, we felt that Knox design offered the most complete solution and from the outset seemed to approach the project with a level of professionalism and proficiency that the others did not seem to offer.

Undertaking a large refurb and design project from afar definitely causes some anxiety and therefore it was very important to me that I found someone who felt I could trust and rely on the manage the project in our absence. I am please to say that my instincts were right and that it quickly became clear that our house project was in safe hands. Justine took time to really understand what were hoping to achieve and she came up with a design scheme that matched the brief while also giving us her guidance and advice where it was needed.

The entire project ran smoothly and was completely stress free, or at least it was from our point of view! Most importantly we were absolutely delighted with the end result, delivering a beautiful and functional holiday home. I would have no hesitation what-so-ever in recommending Justine and her team!
