This was a second project commissioned from Knox Design by these clients, involving the renovation and interior design of a country house in Es Capdellà, in the SW of Mallorca. Having benefitted from the expertise of the Knox Interior Design team in a previous home, the clients trusted Justine’s intuition, opting for a more modern take on the Mediterranean finca. The traditional décor of country homes in Mallorca often echoes the chromatic range of their structure and surrounds: sand, stone, sienna, caramels and copper. The summer sun beats down on the land and these tones blend in with the half-light and semi-darkness of closed-shutter interiors, creating a cool shelter from the sweltering outdoors. Nevertheless, the clients had expressed a desire for a more colourful and modern home, so Justine decided to showcase the Knox Design signature colour, turquoise, along with a bright range of vibrant hues throughout. Splashes of colour shine against the natural materials of the building: wood in doors, window frames and beams, as well as terracotta tiled floors.
The furniture is modern and the wallpaper, fabrics and rugs are bright and bold. The dining room is a bright space featuring an uber-contemporary glass, chrome and driftwood table, surrounded by comfortable chairs in deep turquoise and two angel wing pictures by artist Vivian Borsani gracing the main wall. The kitchen is light and spacious, with clean white units and granite worktops, contrasting with the rustic flooring. The bedrooms are an exquisite study in turquoise and gold. In the master bedroom, the dark turquoise wallpaper features a gold peacock feather motif, and the lush turquoise rug and window blind combine to perfection with the glamorous metallic pillows, the old gold mirror, sandy-toned armchair, and glass and chrome bedside lamps. Outside, the garden is neatly landscaped, with sections of lawn and flagstone terracing, surrounding a pool. Wicker and wood outdoor furniture is beautifully arranged to make the most of the surrounding hillside views.

Client Testimonial:

"After eight years we moved from a lovely apartment in Port Andratx to a Finca style house in the mountains our first call was to Justine, Bruce and the team to help redesign and furnish the property. Justine helped when we bought the apartment, so yes we are repeat customers.
You get a sensible approach with cost effective ideas that give individual character and quality, not the off the shelf schemes you get from some designers. Easy to work with and kept up to the minute on costs and forecast spend.
Sold the apartment in the first month and every viewer loved the interior - says it all."

"From our first meeting with Justine we knew we had made the right choice in our interior designer. She came up with some really good ideas and created an apartment that everyone admires and we never tire of it.
Justine, always kept us fully informed with expenditure in line with our budget and all this was done at a distance as we were not living in Mallorca at the time. We always had total faith in her decisions throughout and would highly recommend her and her team."
