Gwenyth in Paris

As earlier reported the Knox Design Team had a great time trend spotting at Maison & Objet in Paris. However – we were not the only one as this report from Gwenyth Paltrow will testify:

“Seen and Inspired at the Parisian Trade Show”

“A few weeks ago, I took a quick trip to Paris for the biannual Maison & Objet trade show that specializes in home goods and furniture. I’m slightly obsessed with interior design and I’m always on the lookout for beautiful things that inspire me and are great for goop. We took tons of pictures and these were my favorite finds.

Love,

gp”

5am: Early wake-up as I take the 7am train from St. Pancras to Gare du Nord in Paris.

Maison & Objet is geared toward buyers and editors and people in the design business and the next show is in September.

10am: Arrive at Maison & Objet

Here’s me about to enter the show, which was absolutely massive.

Imagine each hall as being about the size of several football fields. Now, imagine walking through eight of those. A shot of just one of the mobbed halls:

Once inside, there were so many beautiful products to see. From the highest quality copper pots to innovative light fixtures, bespoke furniture, Japanese knives, glassware from Spain, Italy and France, quirky décor accessories, gorgeous candles, etc.

Sarah, our new buyer who just joined us from Barneys, spent the day with me on the lookout for awesome products for goop.

Astier de Villatte: A row of candles by the rustic yet incredibly elegant French purveyor of tabletop goods and stationery.

Sfera: I loved the idea of having a row of these gorgeous canisters in the kitchen.

Potomak: Perfectly imperfect Italian hand-made porcelain by Potomak Studio.

Tom Dixon: Functional and elegant simplicity from Tom Dixon. If you’re ever in London you should check out his fantastic canal-side shop.

Ligne Roset: The latest from a contemporary furniture stand-by.

Sol & Luna: I’d ride this leather-clad bike by Spanish designers Sol & Luna anywhere. They cover everything in leather, from bikes, to scooters to chairs, which you’ll find in restaurants and bars like the ones below at Casa Paloma in Barcelona.

Hay: A sleek wooden chair by this Danish furniture design company.

I took a short break on one of these great knit Donna Wilson pouffes also at Hay.

Quinze & Milan: Belgian cult design label Quinze & Milan makes very cool stools.

Also loved these modern, round side tables by Muuto and Normann Copenhagen – both by Scandinavian companies.

Bohemian Works: We all loved this trompe l’oeil wooden floor at Bohemian Works. Made me seriously consider redecorating!

Kids: There was a ton of playful and cool kids design. A classic chair in mini by Morosof, XL boom’s “Baby Ball” chairs, and this modern multi-use chair by Lümmel.

Lighting: Tons of beautiful lighting both contemporary and traditional.

La Lampe Grase: Loved every single lamp on the wall display from this French lighting design studio.

Le Deun: Electrical lighting design with low energy consumption. These fixtures are from their latest collection, but they also do bespoke work.
